Problems of preserving historical and cultural heritage.
Every year the problem of preserving historical and cultural heritage is getting more and more crucial all over the world. Man-caused pressure on environment is resulting in sharp speeding of monument destruction. Environment deterioration increases activity of monument biodestructors. We began to irrevocably lose monuments faster than we manage to research and document them. Obtaining the true information on monuments is the public concern all over the world.
The main objective of our site is presentation of true and accurate information on historical and cultural monuments both in our region and in other interesting places. We want to give information which is general and scientific, interesting both for professionals – historians, restorers, architects, and for general public interested in history and culture.
Biological research of monuments.
Life is everywhere, and especially on the surface of monuments. Stone surface is an excellent place for habitation of living organisms. Fungi, bacteria, algae, lichen, moss and vascular plants gradually form complex lithobiont communities on the stone surface, development of which depends on stone properties and environmental factors. Is it good or bad? It depends on certain conditions. Under certain combination of natural and man-caused factors such lithobiont community leads to biodegradation of monuments, while under other conditions this process does not do any harm. That is why the role of research and observation over the biological situation of monument surface is getting more and more important. An efficient monitoring method is keeping surface biocolonization computer maps by means of CONSOLIDATOR_BIO digital technology.
Technologies.
This section presents some new technologies designed for restoration, archeological and research practice. They include an expert system of digital processing and sorting archeological objects according to pre-set CONSOLIDATOR parameters. CONSOLIDATOR_ BIO expert system makes it possible to analyze digital images, to recognize and map the main types of biodestructors.
We have implemented a 3D scanning technology for the first time. This is an innovative computer technology providing high-accuracy 3D volumetric images of monuments. The obtained images are used for the creation of biodestructors’ colonization maps in order to evaluate the condition of monument surface.
Monuments.
This section will presents description of some monuments. The description will include available information: historical materials, photographs, scientific research reports, maps and atlases.
Archieves
The place where we will keep documents, scientific and research reports on some monuments.
