New technology - "CONSOLIDATOR-BIO"

What  is “CONSOLIDATOR_BIO” ?

It is the scientific - practical and cultural - historical project on the basis of realization of computer technology of monuments biofouling (biodeterioration) identification and sorting of the damaged surface images.
The main purpose of the project - to create system accessible to widely practical application for identification of the main forms of monuments biological damage  on the basis of the objects color characteristics analysis (in biodestruction zones).  We want to create the electronic atlas of biodamages with the biodestructors characteristics and descriptions of various types of lithobiotic communities. The importance of the project is determined by the opportunity to document the current state of a monument and to reflect a real condition of monument surface colonized by biodestructors.
The project includes the technological series of reception, analysis, sorting and clustering of the images as well as creation of the atlases and databases from places of exhibiting of objects.
Having the atlases of various biodamages types in different environment user (researcher, restorer and museum worker) can operatively understand the reasons of stone damage and accept necessary measures on preservation of a monument. It can give the opportunity for monitoring of monument state and for the estimation of surface monument changes connected with the environment changes.
We can do it by the next way. Firstly we make the 3D-model of monument. After that we make detail digital photographs of monument surface.  The next step is the processing of the images using by the original program CONSOLIDATOR_BIO for the color clustering on the basic of determined color models. Every model has the interpretation (composition of biodestructors and description of lithobiotic community).  After these procedures we have the map of the monument surface which can be put on the 3D-model of monument.
Our methods can be easy used for the monument monitoring and estimation of real state of monument surface. This technology is simple and not expensive. One of the main advantages of this method is the possibility to estimate the dynamic of monument surface changes in connection with the environment. 3D-modes have already done for the many monuments but we want to prepare (reflect) for some of them the new biological clothes.
This working has developed by specialists in the different fields of knowledge: mathematicians, biologists and restorators (Saint-Petersburg) co-operative by the idea of cultural heritage preservation.
